CoverUp

Privacy Policy

Effective September 27, 2026

CoverUp doesn’t collect any information about you. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the game doesn’t need an internet connection. The rest of this page covers the few details behind that.

What CoverUp keeps on your phone

CoverUp remembers three settings, whether sound effects and haptics are on and whether you’ve seen the how-to-play introduction, and your history: the results of each solo game you finish, plus the name and avatar you choose in Your Covers. All of it stays in the app’s own storage on your iPhone, is never sent anywhere, and is deleted when you delete the app. Reset Stats in Settings clears your history at any time (your name is kept). Like the rest of your phone’s data, it is included in your device backups.

Names typed in for a two-player game, and two-player scores, are not saved.

Records from Crate Roulette

If you also use Crate Roulette, tapping Play your crate on CoverUp there hands the albums on your shelf to CoverUp so you can play them. For each album that means its MusicBrainz ID, title, artist, first release year and genres, and a copy of its cover. The two apps pass them through a private folder on your iPhone that only they can open, so nothing goes over the internet. CoverUp keeps its copy in its own storage, never sends it anywhere, and deletes it when you delete the app. Tapping the button again replaces it. Your plays, ratings and everything else in Crate Roulette stay in Crate Roulette.

What CoverUp doesn’t do

Apple Music links

After a game, Listen on Apple Music opens Apple’s Music app on that album, or on a search for the artist and album title. CoverUp doesn’t sign you in to Apple Music or read anything from your account. What happens in the Music app is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Sharing your score

The share button creates an image of your result and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. You choose where it goes. CoverUp doesn’t see, send or keep a copy of what you share.

Information Apple provides

CoverUp is distributed through Apple, which collects some information under its own privacy policy and may pass a limited amount of it to developers. That includes crash reports and usage statistics from people who have chosen to share them with developers. For TestFlight testers it also includes your name and email address if you were invited by email, install and session counts, and any feedback or screenshots you decide to send.

I use this only to fix problems and improve the game. I don’t sell it or share it with anyone.

Children

CoverUp doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of CoverUp ever needs to collect anything, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date at the top will change.
